After the thrilling 2nd T20I match against England at Bristol, Indian duo of Jemimah Rodrigues and Amanjot Kaur had a candid chat. The conversation highlighted their remarkable partnership that helped India post a competitive total of 181/4, which eventually led to a 24-run victory and a 2-0 series lead.

Jemimah Rodrigues and Amanjot Kaur reflected on the game with a sense of calm and confidence. Amanjot praises Jemimah for taking all the pressure off from her and making her calm down for which she also says, “A lot of my batting credit goes to Jemi, the way she paced her innings. She told me to stay on the wicket. The wicket was quite damp and slow, so we planned to take it deep.”
Rodrigues praised Kaur’s composure under pressure, saying, “She showed great maturity. We just kept things simple. We knew a 150-plus total would put England under pressure.” Kaur scored her maiden WT20I fifty whereas Jemimah scored her 13th WT20I half-century.
Amanjot Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues both scored 63 respectively in the game, taking India to a respectable position. Their 93-run stand was India’s third-highest partnership against England in WT20Is, underscoring their excellent chemistry on the field. Their partnership was a perfect blend of experience and fresh energy, which turned the game in India’s favor after an early wobble at 31/3.
Amanjot Kaur’s all-round performance in the 2nd T20I was capped by her crucial wicket of England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, a turning point in the match. Discussing the moment, Amanjot described her approach as straightforward, “My plan (against Brunt) was very simple. I wanted to keep it on the stump and bowl.”
This wicket broke England’s momentum and stifled their chase, reinforcing Amanjot’s growing reputation as a dependable all-rounder for India. Her ability to deliver under pressure was a key factor in India’s 24-run victory, and she expressed her delight at contributing both with bat and ball on such an important stage.
During the conversation, Amanjot shared a personal note about her bond with Nat Sciver-Brunt, mentioning, “She has been with me throughout the WPL. It was amazing to get her wicket.”

She credited the WPL for boosting her confidence and helping her refine her skills, which she was able to translate into her match-winning performance for India. “This is just the beginning. I want to keep working hard and grab every opportunity I get.” Her Player of the Match performance was widely praised by teammates and fans alike.
Jemimah also talks about how she enjoys batting with Amanjot whenever they have played alongside. They were constantly talking on the field in regard to the game as well in the dugout. Jemimah also says her chat on the field was mainly about how to bat deep on this wicket till the end as it wasn’t the wicket unlike the first T20I and was comparatively on the slower side.
She also says, “The bowlers were bowling well, but we knew if we can take those singles and doubles and score an odd boundary we can still get 9-10 runs automatically effortlessly. That was the whole thought process, Aman complimented me when I was there, and it was vice-versa.”
India were exceptional on the field last night with three crucial runouts, taking wickets of Sophia Dunkley early on in the innings and after that Tammy Beaumont and Sophie Ecclestone too. Amanjot asked Jemimah about the fielding standards of the current Indian team to which Jemimah replies, “This fielding side is one of the best fielding sides we’ve ever had.”
She also praises each and every team member and refers to them as gun fielders. Jemimah also talks about how this Indian side faced a lot of criticism over the years for their fielding in the past, but she is also grateful that they have put in all the hard work together and everything is now coming forth.
They conclude their chat, talking about Sneh Rana’s crucial run-out getting Tammy Beaumont short of her crease which was a magical moment in changing the course of the game towards India. Tammy Beaumont was on 54 of 35 deliveries when she was run out by Sneh Rana and Radha Yadav and was taking it to the Indian bowlers while chasing down the target.
India is now leading the series by 2-0 and will look to capitalize even furthermore in the upcoming games and would definitely want to win the series against England at their fortress.
