India secured the series at Old Trafford with a resounding six-wicket win in the fourth T20I, sealing an unassailable 3-1 lead. This marked the first-ever T20I series triumph by the Indian women’s team in England, a milestone echoing their ODI series win on English soil exactly 26 years ago on July 9, 1999.
Head coach Amol Muzumdar attributed this success to strong domestic structures, especially the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which provided invaluable preparation.
Several cricketing greats and former teammates took to X (formerly Twitter) to cheer the historic achievement.
Former Indian bowling legend, Jhulan Goswami expressed her joy.
Mithali Raj, the only Former Indian captain across both men’s and women’s teams to lead the country to two 50-over World Cup finals, echoed her pride.

The 20-year-old earned her T20I cap and delivered a dream bowling debut, picking up 4 wickets and maintaining tight lines that disrupted England’s middle order in the first T20 International fixture along with seasoners Deepti Sharma and Radha Yadav, proving their mark. She went on to finish as the leading wicket-taker of the series, with 10 scalps.
Indian spinners, including Radha Yadav and Deepti Sharma, leveraged England’s challenging batting conditions to stifle the home side to 126/7 in the fourth T20I. England managed a thrilling last-ball win in the final T20I, but by then the series was already in India’s grasp.
